Would you embark on a cross-country trip with your family without ever looking at a map?  Probably not!  How then would you expect to get anywhere in your financial life without a map?  The truth is, most people don’t plan their financial futures, myself included until recently.  Like many, I just figured things would just work themselves out.  I am learning that one key difference of the wealthy is that they focus daily on the direction they are headed.  Wealthy people have created their financial road map.  On the journey called life, they frequently spread their money map out on the dashboard so they can navigate the fastest, easiest route to their destinations.

If you want to get to that destination called “Wealthy” you will need a clearly defined plan that will take you closer to that destination with each step.  Along the way, you must continually review your money map and track your progress.  Occasionally you may come a cross a financial detour such as a family emergency, car accident, or any other large unexpected expense and have change your course temporarily.  A quick look at your money map will allow you to develop a plan and strategy to get back on the intended course regardless of what obstacle you may face.  Continually monitoring & tracking your progress gives you the immediate feedback if you are on course or not.  The process of monitoring and tracking allows the wealthy to make quick changes to their plans to keep the course in a rapidly-changing world.

This simple action of creating and monitoring a money map is a good habit that will continue to get those who use it closer to the place called Wealthy.

The good news is anybody can do it. Will You?
